Expansion Manager
Do you want to play a key role in expanding NORMAL in Italy?
NORMAL is looking for an ambitious and driven Expansion Manager with strong knowledge of the Italian commercial real estate market and retail landscape.
As our new Expansion Manager, you’ll be joining us at a fun and exciting time, with a unique opportunity to help shape our journey, since we have big plans for our store roll out in Italy.
Areas of responsibility and tasks
As Expansion Manager for Italy, your primary responsibility will be to identify, evaluate, and negotiate new store locations / leases for a chosen region in close collaboration with the two current Italian Expansion Managers and our Chief Expansion Officer. Italy will be split in regions, which the right profile will help shape.
You will share knowledge and best practices with colleagues at our Danish HQ and across other markets and contribute to developing and refining how we work with leaseholds at NORMAL.
Your tasks will include:
- Source and secure a strong pipeline for new store locations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with landlords and real estate agents
- Negotiate new lease agreements
- Prepare and present store business cases and related material for approval
- Secure legal review of lease agreements before signing together with our real estate attorneys
- Handing over new locations to our Establishment Team, who will build and open the store
- Monitoring the commercial real estate market – including developments in high streets and shopping malls – and evaluating the performance of existing stores to make informed decisions on relocations, extensions, or terminations.
You will report to our Chief Expansion Officer and collaborate closely with the Country Manager, Expansion Managers, Regional Managers, our Global Expansion and Establishment teams, legal advisors, and external stakeholders.
Your profile
You are results-oriented and have a keen eye for opportunity. At NORMAL, we work – and win – as a team, so being a team player is essential. You are curious, empathetic, and thorough in your work, and you thrive in a fast-paced environment where execution is key.
We also expect that you:
- Have at least 3 years of experience in commercial real estate in a similar position
- Possess in-depth knowledge of Italian city centers and shopping malls, including leasing trends and pricing (National or regional)
- Have a strong network among landlords and real estate professionals
- Have solid knowledge of Italian commercial lease law and market practice
- Are fluent in both Italian and English
Workplace
Our Italian HQ is in Milan, but the role involves travelling across Italy. You don’t need to be based in Milan, but we expect regular presence at the HQ to be an integral part of the team.
Who are we?
NORMAL is a Danish retail concept with more than 950 stores across Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Finland, France, Portugal, Italy and latest Ireland. We opened our first Italian store in 2025 and have experienced an incredible interest from customers from the very beginning. We now have 4 open stores and signed double-digit more. We’re looking to further speed up our expansion.
The culture in NORMAL is informal - driven by hard work, a winning mentality, and a good sense of humor. NORMAL is no ordinary company. We empower our employees and give them the responsibility to make a difference. We play to win – not just to avoid losing – and we’re not afraid to try new things. Everything we do is rooted in one common goal: creating an excellent customer experience.
